A Si(Li) spectrometer with thermoelectric cooling

  • 1. Academia Sinica, Shanghai, SH (China). Shanghai Inst. of Nuclear Research

Description

A Si(Li) spectrometer with thermoelectric cooler has been manufactured. The spectrometer has a high-valued resistor feedback preamplifier. At -50 degree C and a bias of -300 V, the full width at half maximum [FWHM] for 28 mm2 Si(Li) detector is 700 eV approximately for 5.9 keV X ray. The temperature of the detector assembly, detector leakage currents at several bias voltages and resolution have been studied for cooler input power levels over the range of 2.8 to 45 W
