Gamma-ray decay in 36Cl
Creators
Description
The decays of 24 states below 4 MeV in ³⁶Cl have been studied by use of p-γ coincidences. The excited states were populated by the ³⁵Cl(d,p) reaction with 3.5-MeV deuterons bombarding enriched PbCl₂ targets. Branching ratios were determined and the mean lives of the states were measured by the attenuated-Doppler-shift method. While the level scheme is complex, it is possible to discuss many of the transitions in terms of simple shell-model configurations. Radiative rates among some of the lowest levels are compared with a recent shell-model calculation.
