Production of acoustic signals in materials using a high energetic Xe beam

  • 1. Waseda Univ., Research Inst. for Science and Engineering, Tokyo (Japan)

Description

Acoustic signals produced in lead-zirconate-titanate and tetrachloride were studied using a 400 Mev/n xenon beam. The number of Xe ions that participated in the production of the signals was successfully counted. The amplitude per ion was determined. Effects of the polarization direction to the output were discussed. A possible mechanism that suppressed the output amplitude was presented. (author)
