Changes in blooming behaviour, flower and microspore size and shape in radiation induced mutants of jute (Corchorus capsularis L.)
Description
The blooming behaviour, flower and microspore size of three early flowering mutants of Corchorus capsularis var. C-5, C-8, and C-22 were studied. Though all the three mutants bloomed earlier than the mother variety D-154, mutant C-5 was found to be a very early blomer. Besides, earlyness, these mutants have bigger size of flower and microspore compared to D-154. The microspore shape in these mutants is oval instead of round, a characteristic of mother variety.
