Description

The transition from L to H-mode after the initiation of neutral beam (NB) injection, and the subsequent evolution of the profiles of the plasma parameters in Jet, are investigated. The measurements were performed using a range of the existing diagnostics including bolometry, interferometry, soft x-ray tomography, charge-exchange and D α visible spectroscopy, electron and neutral particle analysis, and the new JET LIDAR-Thomson scattering and FIR polarimetry systems. The results of this study are discussed. Impurity accumulation is generally not observed in the normal sawtoothing. A high central β is achieved and a preliminary analysis of the stability against ballooning modes indicates that, near the centre, the pressure profile is close to the limit but within the normal stability region
