Description

Problem of computer utilization in the field of the high-energy physics is under discussion. Experimental physics of elementary particles demands pursuance of numerical calculations to reproduce events from experimental data. Processing of only one particle collision may call for up to 107 computer operations, that takes about a second of computer time with the use of powerful SDS-7600 and IBM-3081 systems. Analysis of the data accumulated in several months of operation using the system with an equivalent power of several SDS-7600 computers, may take more than a year. In this case+ preliminary and final event separation represents a necessary stage of calculations in the elementary particle physics. Even more complicated calculations become possible in the theoretical physics. In the last few years computers are intensively used in the Monte Carlo calculations in the lattice gauge theories
