On mechanism of ethanol oxidation an silica gel base vanadium pentoxide

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Organicheskoj Khimii

Description

The reaction of catalytic oxidation of ethanol has been studied on vanadium pentoxide applied to silica gel and on pure V2O5 under flow and pulse conditions. It has been established that the rate of catalysis and that of catalyst reduction on pure vanadium pentoxide coincide; on V2O5/SiO2 the rate of catalysis exceeds that of catalyst reduction by 1.7 times. It has been assumed that on vanadium-silicate catalyst the reaction can follow the conjugated 'chain' mechanism with the participation of oxygen radical forms
