Gravitational waves from the big bang
Description
In this note the possibility of a random background gravitational radiation coming from the Big Bang itself (analogous to the 30K electromagnetic microwave background) and the possibility of its experimental observation are discussed. Assuming the ultimate unification of all the forces of nature and the validity of the standard, Friedmann, model of the universe the temperature of the background gravitational radiation is found to be approximately 0.003 0K. If the gravitational radiation is quantized it should show an effect due to the Planck distribution. (author)
