Description

It is analyzed during which conditions the technique of a reference tissue can be applied in receptor binding studies with PET, which assumptions have to be made and how the qualification will be affected. A compartment model which includes unspecific binding is used. The reference and target tissues are allowed to have different distribution characteristics. Volume effects are included. The model is simulated with different specific activities in order to observe the effects of the bound ligand concentration. Different techniques to calculte the receptor density Bmax and ligand rates are suggested. (author). 7 refs.; 8 figs.; 1 tab
