Description
For non-abelian gauge theories in 3 + 1 dimensions the Monte Carlo studies face considerable obstacles in the limit (β = 1/g2 to infinity. It is therefore desirable to complement existing MC studies with studies of a more analytic nature. In this article the authors present various details of the application of Rayleigh-Ritz variational techniques with one parameter Ansaetz to SU(2) Euclidean lattice gauge theories in three and four dimensions.
