Use of synthetic multi-element standards (SMELS) in the quality control and method validation of k0-neutron activation analysis

Description

Three synthetic multi-element standards (SMELS-I, II and III), developed recently, have been characterized for their elemental concentration via neutron activation analysis using two research reactors with different neutron flux characteristics. A total of 25 different elements were analysed via γ-ray spectrometry. The neutron flux was characterized by bare triple monitor method. All the results were within ±5% of the reference values except for Zr in SMELS-III. We suggest to use the k0,Au and Q0 values for 127I/128I and 133Cs/134mCs from another data source.
