Description

The Chinese government has given its final approval to build the nuclear power plant in Taishan, which must be equipped with two Areva reactors in Guangdong. Areva delivers two steam generators at T.M.I.. The United arab emirates have approved a law establishing the legal framework for their development programme in civil nuclear energy, a step required before the award of a contract estimated at 41 million dollars. The emirates government undertakes to waive the local enrichment of uranium. Armenia wants to produce 40% of its electric power by nuclear energy in 2025. The Osiris reactor restarted production of radioisotopes for medical use. It ensures the provision of 7% of world production. (N.C.)
