Description

The nuclear and physico-chemical properties of 99m Tc allow important applications in nuclear medicine by using a generator system based on 99 Mo → 99m Tc nuclear processes starting from the fission 99 Mo adsorbed on Al2O3 and elution of 99m Tc with 0.9 % NaCl solution performed every 24 hours. There are many commercial generator systems and we present here the results of the chemical and radiochemical studies concerning the Romanian generator 'ROMTEC' produced for 4, 8, 15 and 18 GBq activities at calibration date. The data included in this paper concern the functional characteristics of the generator and the characteristics of the final solution (eluted 99m Tc pertechnetate in 0.9 % NaCl), when fission 99 Mo delivered by NORDION was used.
