Atomic Energy Law in West Germany in 1986

The main points of the work of law bodies in 1985 were the agreements on nuclear liability, by which the previous maximum liability limit was removed and unlimited liability for danger was introduced, the ratification of international improvements of the Atomic Liability Law and the agreement of the acceleration of legal management processes for large technical projects. The activities of the West German Government were mainly concentrated in the fuel disposal field. In the management and completion area, apart from the events connected with the socalled Hanau nuclear firms, the processes concerning the fast breeder prototype at Kalkar and the reprocessing plant at Wackersdorf aroused interest in political circles and in the public. A series of legal decisions cleared up or ended some long term processes, where the main point was also in the area of the nuclear fuel circuit. (orig./PW)
