Search for scalar particles and structure of the Higgs sector

Description

A study is made of the Z0W+-H-+ vertex in the SU(2)/sub L/ x U(1) and SU(2)/sub L/ x SU(2)/sub R/ x U(1) theories. In the standard model, the Z0W+-H-+ vertex depends significantly on the structure of the Higgs sector, being absent when only doublet fields are present. With a more complicated Higgs sector, this vertex appears at the level g-barM/sub W/√Vertical Bar1-rhoVertical Bar, where rho = M2/sub W//M2/sub Z/ cos2theta/sub W/. In the minimal SU(2)/sub L/ x SU(2)/sub R/ x U(1) model, the vertex is proportional to the square of the ratio of the masses of the left- and right-handed W and Z bosons. Nonstandard methods of detecting Higgs particles are discussed, in particular the decay Z0→W-H+
