Measurement of irradiation associated luminescence from ceramics irradiated in nuclear reactor

Description

The luminescence from a silica-glass irradiated in a nuclear reactor is in-situ measured. The irradiation experiment is performed at room temperature in YAYOI reactor of Tokyo University. The luminescence from the silica-glass is also measured during gamma ray irradiation using the 60Co irradiation facility at Nagoya University. From the comparison of the two experimental results the displacement effect for the luminescence is analyzed separating from the electron activation effect. The identification of the irradiation defects and analyses of the mechanism of defect formation and collapse were performed through the measurement of the irradiation associated luminescences from the ceramics.
