Slowing down of suprathermal particles in a stochastic binary medium for inertial fusion

Description
In the framework of inertial fusion, tritium nuclei generated in D + D → T + p, are slowed down in a medium made of a light material (deuterium) and a dense material (a plastic shell). An important point is to know where the tritium nucleus stops, if it is in the light material it could contribute to new fusion reactions with deuterium. A model for the transport of charged particles in a binary random medium is proposed. This model is based on asymptotic techniques that have led to 2 theoretical formulas representing 2 extreme configurations and on many numerical simulations to fill the gap between these 2 configurations.
