Oxidation of Am(III) by perxenate in mineral acid solutions containing open-quotes unsaturatedclose quotes heteropoly compounds
Description
Oxidation of Am(III) to Am(IV) by Na4XeO6 in mineral acid solutions containing open-quotes unsaturatedclose quotes heteropoly compounds (HPCs) of various structure is studied by spectrophotometry. It is demonstrated that the yield of Am(IV) and its stability change in the order H2SO4 > HClO4 > HNO3 > HCl. Not only 17th-order (K10P2W17O61) but also 11th-order (K8SiW11O39 and K8GeW11O39) HPC can be used as ligands to stabilize Am(IV)
