Synthesis, characterization and heat capacity of BaNd2O4(s)

  • 1. Product Development Section, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

During irradiation of oxide fuels, alkaline earth metal and lanthanides are produced as fission products (FPs) amongst other fission products. The chemical states of these elements are important to predict the behavior of fuel. The oxides composed of alkaline earths and lanthanides FPs would affect significantly the fuel characteristics. Knowledge of thermo chemical properties of these ternary oxides is important for understanding and evaluating the performance of oxide fuel. Furthermore, thermodynamic data of these oxides are also of relevance because of computation of phase diagram and phase stability of pseudo-ternary systems. In the present study, we explore the synthesis, characterization and measurement of heat capacity of the BaNd2O4
