A study of the reaction 15N(d,n)16O by neutron time of flight

Description

Absolute differential cross sections for the reaction 15N(d,n)16O have been measured over the incident deuteron range from 0.65-2.80 MeV. A necessary prerequisite was the installation of a velocity modulation type of accelerator beam pulsing. The data have been fitted with a combination of direct reaction and compound nucleus theoretical cross sections. Spectroscopic factors so obtained differentiate between theoretical calculations of the 16O nucleus. Resonance-like fluctuations in the cross sections have been qualitatively described by an intermediate reaction model. (author)
