MRI not mandatory in patients with LADI asymmetry

Description
After blunt trauma, acute cervical spine injury occurs in 2-6% of patients. The primary diagnosis is based on CT. If this shows an asymmetry of the lateral atlantodental distance, an MRI usually follows. This is not necessary in every patient, according to the study authors.

Nach stumpfen Verletzungen kommt bei 2–6 % der Patienten eine akute Verletzung der Halswirbelsäule vor. Die Primärdiagnostik basiert auf der CT. Wenn diese eine Asymmetrie des lateralen atlantodentalen Abstands aufweist, folgt meistens eine MRT. Das ist nicht bei jedem Patienten erforderlich, meinen die Studienautoren.Additional details
