Neutrino oscillation experiments in the United States: past, present, and future

Creators

Description

Experimental data on neutrino oscillations from the U.S. include one reactor experiment with positive evidence that antiνsub(e)→antiνsub(x) with Δm2 approximately 0.8 eV2, a contradictory negative reactor experiment, and several accelerator experiments which set moderately strong limits against antiνsub(μ)→antiνsub(e) for Δm2 > approximately 1 eV2 and νsub(μ)→νsub(tau) for Δm2 > approximately 3 eV2. With the question now the limelight, there are numerous experiments in progress, scheduled, and planned which promise rapid progress in resolving this issue
