Description

Results of studies of shock formation in supersonic flow of air around cones are used to determine the maximum skimmer angle without formation of a detached shock in the free jet regime. Also, since the Mach disk location becomes a critical design parameter in a high-pressure high-temperature sampling system design, its location is predicted using an entropy balance method.
