Description
The leaching rate 134Cs from the Syrian concrete has been studied. The solidification matrix was a Syrian Portland cement mixed with 1, 2 and 3 % of (Microsilica, Pozzolan, Dolomite, Flint and Barite) as additive materials for improvement of the Syrian concrete used in the storage of the Low-Level Radioactive wastes. The leaching rates from the solidification matrix were measured and showed the decreasing when we used the (Microsilica, Pozzolan, Barite) and increasing for the Dolomite and Flint in comparison with the leaching rate 134Cs of the Syria Portland cement. The solidification matrix was tested by the high temperatures, long water immersion, freezing-thawing, high radiation dose and compression strength for the estimation of the Syrian concrete quality used in the storage of the Low-Level Radioactive wastes. The results obtained were showed there is a good ability for using this concrete in the disposal of these wastes.(author)
