Wet atmospheric cooling towers

Description

Calculating the air flow rate and water cooling of a natural draught cooler requires the simultaneous resolution of a problem of aerodynamics and one of heat. Increasingly complex digital and physical models have been developed and an industrial size test rig has been built on the Nantes-Chevire power station site. An extensive on-site experimental programme has been started by the EDF to make a better analysis of the operation of coolers depending on the weather conditions. In order to illustrate these campaigns, the trials of the Bugey cooler is described
