Study on the effects of the U.S. GNEP program on the Korean nuclear energy policy

This study aimed mainly at analyzing a true nature and the effects on Korea of GNEP, a nuclear energy program of the U.S., and deriving the measures to respond to GNEP. First, this study investigated the background and progress of GNEP, and analyzed the contents of the program and the perspectives of future process. Based on these results, the relation of GNEP to the Comprehensive Nuclear Energy Promotion Plan of Korea and the effects of GNEP on energy security, nuclear power plant technology export and acquisition of advanced nuclear technology were analyzed to examine the effects of GNEP on Korean nuclear policy. Finally, for preparing the in earnest development of GNEP, this study estimated the possibility of Korea's participation in GNEP and suggested the strategies for the participation in the program
