Surface modification of radiation synthesised macroporous polyhema: optimisation and characterisation
- 1. Radiation Technology Development Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Polymer scaffold having properties like biocompatibility, high porosity, bio-degradability and good mechanical integrity,is an important class of materials used for various applications, including catalyst, water filtration, tissue engineering, biosensing, etc.. PolyHEMA is animportant class of polymer, generally used in contact lenses and other applications due its inherent properties like biocompatibility and good mechanical strength. In the present study, radiation crosslinked microporous PolyHEMA has been functionalised with Carboxylate group (>COOH) using gamma radiation induced mutual irradiation grafting of Polyacrylic acid (PAA)
