Description

In this work , the activity levels of uranium(238U), thorium(232TH), and potassium (40K) content in some naturally occurring radioactive Materials (NORM) and technically enhanced-naturally occurring radioactive materials (TE-NOrM) were determined and discussed. the samples include monazite, black sand, zircon, gypsum, granite, marble, ceramic, cement and iron slag. the samples were analyzed nondestructively based on their nuclear spectroscopic measurements. also, emanation coefficient (EC) due to exhalation of 222Rn content in the studied samples was evaluated . the results showed that significant activity levels of 232 Th-series are in monazite samples, while high levels of 226 Ra (U-series) are in the gypsum waste samples associated with phosphate processing plant (Abu zabal plant). the radioactive equilibrium between the primordial radionuclides and their respective decay daughters was discussed
