Quality monitoring and radioactivity of naturally occurring radioactive materials (norm) environment of Cisalak river

Nuclear technology research and development activities in the Serpong Nuclear Area produce liquid effluent which is discharged into the Cisalak River. The quality of liquid effluent has gone through measurements and meets the regulations for the limits of environmental radioactivity. In the management of radioactive waste, CRWT has a plan to build a disposal facility in the form of a demo disposal or bore hole disposal. The quality of the Cisalak River water is measured to complement the safety assessment data needed in the planned construction of disposal facilities in the Serpong nuclear area The activity of measuring the quality of the river is done by sampling method, measurements are made directly and in the laboratory. The quality of the Cisalak river in 2018 meets the quality standards of agricultural and fisheries water with temperatures ranging from 29 -30 °C while the acidity degrees are on average 6-7. NORM radioactivity values for K-40, Ra-226, and Th-232 nuclides are still below the limits of NORM activity. So that the Cisalak river is still safe for agriculture and fisheries. (author)
