On 21 March 2003, the Swiss Federal Assembly adopted the new Act on Nuclear Energy. This new Act lays down the conditions for the safe operation of nuclear installations, strengthens public participation in decision-making and includes, guidelines for nuclear waste management. The main provisions of this new Act are presented. (A.L.B.)
