Description

Ho4Mo4O11, Mr=1219.47, orthorhombic, Pbam, a=10.683 (3), b=15.848 (4), c=5.6592 (1) A, V=958.1 (3) A3, Z=4, Dx=8.453 g cm-3, λ(MoKα)=0.71073 A, μ=380.3 cm-1, F(000)=2096, T=295 K, R=0.018 for 1534 observed reflections. The title compound constitutes a new structure type containing infinite chains of trans-edge-shared Mo6 octahedra clusters. The latter show a pairwise distortion and are well separated from each other by the Ho3+ cations which are coordinated by seven O atoms forming a monocapped trigonal prism. (orig.)
