Thermodynamic properties of nickel-zirconium alloys

  • 1. Tsentral'nyj Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Chernoj Metallurgii, Moscow (USSR)

Description

The EMF method with solid oxide electrolyte 0.99 ThO2x0.01 CaO is used to study thermodynamic properties of nickel-zirconium alloys. Local raray spectrum analysis has been applied for determining the chemical composition of phases of investigated alloys. The presence of intermetallide compounds Ni5Zr, Ni3Zr, Ni2Zr and NiZr and oxide phase ZrO2 has been found and thermodynamic functions of their formation at 1300 K are calculated. Calculation results testify to a very high stability of intermetallic compounds formed in the nickel-zirconium system
