Thermodynamic assessment of the Cu-Nd system

Description
The Al-Cu-Nd quaternary system is one of the important high-strength materials. Knowledge of the phase diagram and thermodynamic properties is of fundamental importance in the production of the materials. In the present work, the calculation for the Cu-Nd binary system is performed. The thermodynamic modeling for this binary system has been conducted by Wang. However, the Cu7Nd2 compound confirmed by Carnasciali et al. and Gu and Song was not included in his evaluation, and the experimental data available at that time were not considered in Wang's work. Furthermore, the Gibbs energies of Cu and Nd adopted by this author are now out of date. Finally, there have been new experimental data since the previous assessment. Therefore, a new thermodynamic calculation of the binary system is of interest
