On the possible mechanism of the recurrent activity of galactic nuclei

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Kosmicheskikh Issledovanij

Description

A mechanism of the reccurent activity is proposed in a compact (R approximately 0.1-10 pc) stellar cluster on the stage of contact collisions. It is shown that cooling and compression of the gas, produced during the collisions in a cluster with small angular momentum may lead to reccurent activity of a galactic nuclei with the characteristic time between outbursts of approximately 102-105 years
