SSI FS 1989: 1 Ordinance of the state institute for radiation protection on maximum dose limits for exposure to radiation

Description

This Ordinance adopted on 17 March 1989 entered into force on 1 January 1990. The Ordinance is based on the provisions of the 1988 Radiation Protection Act and complies with the recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection - ICRP. It lays down dose limits for radiation workers and the general public. These limits are 50 and 1 millisieverts (mSv) per year respectively. Special limits have also been introduced for accumulated doses during radiation work: these must be less than 180 mSv at 30 years of age and less than 700 mSv over a lifetime. In effect, this stipulation limits the average yearly dose to less than 15 mSv per year

Abstract (French)

La presente Ordonnance adoptee le 17 mars 1989 est entree en vigueur le 1er janvier 1990. L'Ordonnance est basee sur les dispositions de la Loi de 1988 sur la radioprotection et tient compte des recommandations de la Commission internationale de protection radiologique - CIPR. Elle prescrit des limites de dose pour les personnes affectees a des travaux sous rayonnements ionisants et pour le public en general. Ces doses sont respectivement de 50 et de 1 millisieverts (mSv) par an. Des limites particulieres ont ete prescrites pour les doses cumulees au cours des travaux sous rayonnements: inferieures a 180 mSv a 30 ans et inferieures a 700 mSv au cours de toute une vie. En fait, cette condition limite la dose moyenne annuelle a 15 mSv par an
