Synthesis of 1-deuterioaldehydes from methylene-bis-pyridinium cations

Abstract A synthesis of 1‐deuterio and 1‐tritioaldehydes, especially arylaldehydes, from precursor gem‐dihalides is described. The scheme is especially useful when high label incorporation is desired.
