Safety and operational margin studies of Yongkwang No 5, 6 related with thermal discharged water recirculation

Description

The purposes of this study is to review, in a regulatory positions, operational margin and safety aspects of the CCWS design of YGN No 5, 6 during the several operational mode of NPP. This study includes the calculations of limiting temperature of ultimate heat sink(sea water) to ensure the CCWS have proper cooling capability to serve for the safety related systems. Details are as follows, study on the functional relationships of CCWS with related systems, reviews on the heat loads to CCWS according to the various operational mode, reviews on the heat transfer capability of CCWS' heat exchanger, intake sea water limiting temperatures, to ensure the CCWS' fluid temperature below the allowable temperature, reviews on the Kepco's average and maximum sea water design temperature determination method
