Analysis of the ratios of hadron structure functions in inclusive multiple high-energy processes

Description

The ratios of structure functions of inclusive production of π+ and π- mesons from the target-proton fragmentation region in the bar p-p and p-p interactions are analyzed for initial momenta of 22.4 and 69 GeV/c, respectively. The asymptotic approach of the ratios to the value of ∼2 is investigated in the Feynman variable x and the rapidity y* in the center-of-mass system. The information on the quark structure of colliding hadrons is obtained. The dependence of the observed effects on the sign of the charge of the primary particle (p or bar p) and on the squared transverse momentum of produced pions is discussed. The obtained results are compared with the predictions of the Lund model. 7 refs., 5 figs., 1 tab
