Technique for removal of background loading from thick-layer nuclear emulsions

Description

Technique for removal of background loading from thick-layer nuclear emulsions, allowing one to completely remove the light particle background as compared to preserved traces of heavy particles is described. According to the technique proposed nuclear emulsion is impregnated with water at 10-25 deg C during 90-50 s. After that it is dried by filter paper and subjected to pulse electric field action during 30-60 s after which the emulsion is ready for exposure. After the wet emulsion exposure it is held during 1-2 days for completet removal of gamma and relativistic background. The technique proposed removes background loadings of up to 1014 particle/cm2 from nuclear emulsion layers
