Description
For the americium isotopes 241 and 242m the mass yield curve for thermal neutron fission is determined. The yield of the main fission products is measured by direct gamma spectroscopy with lithium-drifted germanium detectors of the irradiated sample and compared with the yields of these elements from 239Pu neutron fission. Some of the elements with lower yield are separated by ion-exchange methods before measurement. The mass-yield- curves found for 241 and 242m americium are compared with those of the neighbouring nuclides. (author)
