Description
A new method of synthesis of anhydrous titanium, scandium, yttrium, europium and ytterbium bromides by means of their hydride bromination, ensuring the yield of 80-97%, is sUggested. Solubility of prepared bromides and of niobiUm and tantalum halides in diethyl ether is determined. LiBr addition to ScBr3 results in a three time (1.5%) increase in solubility evidently at the expense of complexing. In the case of yttrium, ytterbium and europium solubility of bromides in the presence of LiBr does not vary significantly
