Radioactivities of bauxite in western Serbia
Description
Systematic investigation of bauxite in Western Serbia enabled to distinguish region of Pocuta, Mackat and Tara in which are separate deposits and occurrences of bauxite and also area of interest for further investigations. It is supposed that source material for bauxite of Western Serbia originated from various rock types as ultramafic, basic, intermediate rocks of di abase-chart formation and others. This mentioned was deposited during the continental phase when it underwent different degree of differentiates. The content of natural radionuclides U, Th and 40 K was increased in them and the relation of Th and U indicate thorium character of anomalies. This investigations enabled the completion of the prognostic map for red bauxite of Western Serbia that is representing a load base in radiometric protection. (author)
