Description
In view of the future European Hadron Facility various aspects are discussed of studying nuclear structure with different hadrons (protons, electrons, K-mesons and pions), such as mean free path in nuclear matter, isovector sensitivity and relative strength of spin-orbit and central part of the interaction. The author concludes that there is no special need or advantage to extend elastic and inelastic studies with pions and protons at higher energies for conventional intermediate-energy nuclear physics and that the K+ turns out to be the most promising probe for future study of nuclear structure.
