Design of Human Machine Interface (HMI) for emergency shutdown system monitoring on synthesis gas compressor using OPC protocol
Description
Based on the data that has been found, the use of fertilizers in Indonesia during the 2017-2021 period reached between 10 million to 11 million tons. The fertilizer production process involves complex stages, including ammonia production, packaging, and distribution. Equipment supervision on a Synthesis Gas Compressor is essential in the manufacture of ammonia. This research aims to improve the interface between humans and machines that previously used relay controllers to systems that used PLCs as well as those that previously monitored emergency shutdown systems through annunciator lights and now monitoring emergency shutdown systems using HMIs. The HMI design uses SCADA studio plant software to visualize system performance data, present relevant information to operators, and facilitate real-time interaction of normal conditions, alarms, and trips. By utilizing the OPC protocol, the HMI will connect with related equipment and systems, allowing for accurate data exchange. As part of this research, a Human Machine Interface (HMI) has been successfully designed and tested using PLC simulator software to monitor the emergency shutdown system in gas synthesis compressors by utilizing the OPC protocol.
