Description

This paper provides numerical data on the attenuation of slow electromagnetic waves propagating along a radially magnetized annular plasma column. The attenuation coefficient is derived from the determinantal equation describing both the dispersive properties and the attenuation of slow waves using the perturbation technique formulated by Anicin (1968). A determinantal equation of the problem is obtained from the requirement that non-zero solutions of Maxwell's equations in the five regions of interest should exist and satisfy the boundary conditions.
