Description

The Monte Carlo method is applied in two different ways to calculate the loads that due to the actuation of the safety and relief valves of a BWR reactor are generated on the boundaries of the pressure supression pool of a Mark II containment. The loads calculated by this method are compared with the loads calculated in a deterministic way, a criterion so far accepted for this type of containment. The comparison is made based on the response spectra of the integrated vertical forces. (author)
