Failed attempt to escape from the quantum pigeon conundrum

Description

Highlights: • The analysis by Kunstatter et al. of the pigeon conundrum misses the target by addressing the wrong argument. • The violation of the pigeon counting principle is re-derived based on strong and weak quantum measurements. • It is confirmed that the quantum violation of the classical pigeon counting principle holds. A recent criticism by Kunstatter et al. (2020) [1] of a quantum setup violating the pigeon counting principle Aharonov et al. (2016) [2] is refuted. The quantum nature of the violation of the pigeonhole principle with pre- and postselection is clarified.
