Effects of surface normal motion for helium films

Description
The study of helium films has been motivated in part by the hope that the film's properties would be characteristic of two-dimensional (2D) matter. The effects of motion in the dimension normal to the surface are investigated. It is found that this motion can be neglected for the first layer, but that it has an important role for He atoms in the second layer. The conclusions agree qualitatively with experiment. (Auth.)
