Fast reactors - look ahead

Description

The status and prospects of fast reactors are considered. It is pointed out that from the technical and technological viewpoints fast power reactors with sodium coolant are worked out to the last detail. Sufficient value of breeding ratio is confirmed by direct balance experiments with operating reactors. Fast reactors are inferior to the thermal reactors from the economical viewpoint. Ways and measures to increase their economical efficiency in the near future are discussed. Problems of NPP unit improvement and prospects of fuel cycle perfection are touched upon
