Description
Recovered Uranium (RU), the advanced fuel cycle compatible with CANDU reactors, is a very good opportunity for the future. Recovered Uranium resulting from LWR spent fuel reprocessing is a by-product kept in the stockpiles nearby reprocessing plants. Romania is the single country in Europe, which is an owner of CANDU type reactors and technologies. In the paper Romania's premises to use RU from European stockpiles in its own reactors are presented. The Romania's position in the European nuclear field, the Governmental sustainability, facilities and technical competence are presented, also. Romanian efforts to develop advanced fuel bundles compatible with CANDU 6 reactor, technologies and installation for their manufacturing is another reason supporting the use of RU from European stockpiles.
